Talk on III-V Devices for Millimeterwave Applications

The IEEE MTT/AP/EDS Penang Chapter is very pleased to bring you a talk from Dr. Ed Chang, an EDS Distinguished Lecturer. His talk will focus on the III-V electronics devices for wireless communications up to Millimeterwave range. In the talk, basics of the III-V compounds and devices (HEMT, HBT) will be introduced. Different types of HEMT devices (PHEMT, MHEMT, InP HEMT) with ft from 100~ 500 GHz will be emphasized. Finally, various types of applications for these devices in wireless communications will be covered.
Dr. Edward Chang (EDS Distinguished Lecturer)
Edward Y. Chang received his B.S. degree from Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1977, and his Ph.D. degree from Materials Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota Minneapolis, MN in 1985.
Dr. Chang was with Unisys Corporation GaAs Component Group, Eagan, MN, 1985 to 1988 and Comsat Labs Microelectronic Group from 1988 to 1992. He worked on the GaAs MMIC programs on both groups. He joined National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1992. In 1994, he helped set up the first GaAs MMIC production line in Taiwan, and become president of Hexawave Inc., Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1995. He returned to the teaching position at NCTU in 1999, and is currently the chairmen and professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NCTU.
His research interests include new device and process technologies for Compound Semiconductor RFICs for wireless communication. Dr. Chang is a senior member and a DL(Distinguished Lecturer) of the IEEE Electronic Device Society. Currently his research interests include InP, GaAs based compound materials and devices (HEMT, HBT) for wireless communication, especially at milimeterwave range. GaN based materials (MBE, MOCVD) for optical (LED) and electronic (HEMT) applications. III-V/ Si integration (Ge, SiGe, GaAs, InP) for logic applications. Advanced package (Flip chip) for high frequency and LED applications.

HARDCORE poor families are set to be a thing of the past for Penang come December.
There are only about 300 hardcore poor families left in the state and they are expected to be elevated from hardcore poverty by the end of the year, said Datuk Abdul Ghani Ariffin who is deputy director-general of the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department.
He said Penang was ahead of the national target to eradicate hardcore poverty by 2010.
“The economic status of 600 more families in Penang under the poor category also needs to be upgraded soon,” he said at the handing over ceremony of houses that were rebuilt and repaired under the Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency’s special programme to eradicate poverty.
Families with household income of below RM400 fall under the hardcore poor category while those with household incomes of RM400 to RM660 are in the poor category.
Abdul Ghani said the Prime Minister’s Department recently allocated RM1.5mil to rebuild 31 houses and repair 75 houses belonging to those under the poor category in the constituency.
He said the Penang Regional Development Authority (Perda) and Northeast district office engaged 35 contractors to rebuild the houses at RM20,000 each and repair the dilapidated ones at RM10,000 each.
Perda chairman Datuk Hilmi Abdul Rashid said that while the Government tried its best to help the group with improved facilities and income-generating projects, they should also learn to be independent.
“They must change their mindset and realise the importance of education. By acquiring some skills, they can work and eventually come out of the poverty cycle,” he said.
Odd-jobber Zulbahari Ismail, 45, among those whose houses were repaired under the scheme, said he was thankful to the department for building a second room as well as re-plastering the walls of his home.
“I was unable to work after fracturing my shoulder and feet in an accident 10 months ago.
“My wife, Azna Zakaria, works as a cleaner at the Penang Golf Resort to help make ends meet,” he said. The couple has four children aged between six months and 18 years.
Impossible!!!! It won't be less than this amount of numbers even after 10 years time.

but somehow, the performance of the presentation is seriously very bad, i am panic, nervous...

in fact, my english is not as good as what u thought and i already tried my best lo....
after all, why should i have this presentation but some other college student they can exempted from internship even though for those who go for internship, they still can avoid from giving a presentation...
but it's ok for me, i learn a lot and i really learn from mistake.

所以，踏入社会的人都不敢有梦想。。。因为他们清楚知道，达不到梦想的那种失落感。。。所以好多人选择平平淡淡的过一生，梦想对他们来说是可以可有可无的。。。
但。。。
我清楚知道梦想是推动我成功的力量。。。有了梦想，我才会更努力的付出，为的是什么？为的是，对自己的内心有个交待。。。
今天。。。在心里许下了许多诺言，也定下了伟大的梦想。。。那将是我背后很强大的推动力，把我推向我的梦想！所有的冷水，挑战，挫折都当作是为成功付出的代价吧！！没有失败没有跌倒过，那来成功时那份兴奋的喜悦呢？

燙傷處理新法.
★未破皮處之燙傷處理（熱水、熱湯、熱油、摩托車煙管、蒸氣燙傷） 燒傷如果沒有馬上降溫與止痛，未來的心路歷程是可想而知。
當燙傷時第一時間不是很痛，是因為身體有百分之 0.9的鹽繼續吸皮膚發炎的熱而變成越來越灼熱痛，我們用鹽把熱吸過去就不痛了，因為鹽有吸熱和滲透的特性，民俗廟會過火撒鹽就是這個原理。
我向一位年長的婦女說
燙傷須馬上泡冰鹽水：有一次她跌倒整隻手掌插入熱油鍋裡，她整隻手掌藏入鹽堆裡，結果手心手背都好了，指縫起水泡是因為沒有把手指頭張開，還高興的向我說謝謝。
像一般家庭小燙傷： 沖水後用很厚的鹽再用濕的面紙敷蓋，偶爾加水！！只要離開鹽不痛約三小時就好了，不需敷藥也沒有留下疤痕。 （皮膚未破皮才可用大量的鹽） 。

Synopsis : The setting for "The Shadow Box" is three cottages on the grounds of a large hospital. Here, three tales unfold, at first serially, and then towards the end of each of the play's two acts, simultaneously.
Each tale features a person who is dying. Each person is surrounded by loved ones. All are trying to face and make sense of death.
The first family we meet is the most conventional. Joe, a working class husband and father, is joined at the cottage by his wife Maggie, who, in denial of Joe's impending death is afraid to enter the cottage. Their son, Stephen, age 14, has not yet been told of his father's terminal condition.
The second family consists of Brian, who is brutally forthright about his demise; Mark, his doting lover; and Beverly, Brian's wild ex-wife who comes to visit them.
The third family is a feisty and wheelchair-bound mother, Felicity, and her dutiful daughter, Agnes. An off-stage character, "the interviewer," pops in and out of the scenes, offering insight into the various characters through questioning.
Proceeds from Wednesday's show will be channeled towards the Penang Pure Lotus Hospice of Compassion Cancer Trust Fund.

f you are used to paying 'Kopi Money' when stopped for traffic offences, DON'T Do This Again.
The traffic department has recently started a campaign to be rid of corruption. The officers on duty will be rewarded RM100.00 when they report each case to the department. This is how they do ( trick you into) it. They will note down the details of your IC/MyKad, and ask you how you want to settle (Paying Kopi Money?). They will then report the incident by passing up the 'Kopi Money' and get the RM100.00 in
return for their good deed. You will end up having a summon issued to you.
DON'T PAY KOPI RM AGAIN, especially if you hope to go free with RM20 kopi money. They rather have a 'good' name than to take your kopi money. Just beware of their trick because the cops are now clocking up 'cookies' points for their promotion and pay increment.
They should have done this to stop corruption long time ago, anyway better late than never...

当然也少不了单反相机，一架渴望拥有已久的相机
上个星期
到了某某超商的摄影店问一问，谈一谈价钱
竟然超出了预算整五百马币
虽然话说有附送相机包包，三脚架，2Gb记忆卡和等等
不过话说回来
还是一句话
超出了就是不行了，而且还没加上银行利息
那更本就是不用想了
已经抱着失望的心情
在前几天就一直找看还有什么其它经济又实用的镜头来配合
不过
看来看去
还是比不上家能原厂的17-85mm ＵＳＭ IS镜头好
直到昨天
为了一些事情，就到市区的一些朋友介绍的相机专卖店看看
哈哈
就是这间了
竟然比我预算的便宜七百马币
来回就是千二嘞
虽然没有三脚架和包包
不过最基本的都有了
最重要的是镜头
应该不会错了
等过了这个月
只要佳能不再发布新的同一系列的单反相机
这，400D就是可以到手了
就算是发布新的450D
可能就是450D 加上18-55ｍｍ ＩＳ镜头了
这可预支也不会差很远罢了
现在担心的就是不要在我买了４００Ｄ之后才发布新的

數位單眼相機:
如果不一起買鏡頭的話,最好是帶鏡頭去,不然就沒辦法測試了.
1.外觀:同上
2.插孔蓋:同上
3.附件:同上
4.看反光鏡及底片室是否有入塵.
5.裝上電池,插上記憶卡,裝上鏡頭,開機測試.檢查LCD的重點同上,若是像是Minolta D7D LCD畫面會隨相機轉的,看看功能是否正常.
6.測試CCD是否有壤點.蓋上鏡頭蓋拍全黑照片,及拍過曝的全白照片.
7.檢查CCD入塵,以最小光圈對全白的牆面曝光,並同時搖晃機身,看是否有黑黑的點.
8.將水平線對準觀景窗上緣及下緣各拍一張,來檢查CCD是否有傾斜的現象.
9.測試對焦是否準確.拿一張印滿字的紙(報紙),以固定中央點對焦,分別以自動對焦拍幾張對準遠近不同的字,看看是否對焦正確,有無焦點前後移的情形(每拍一張可將焦距ZOOM最遠或最近再拍下一張).再選擇不同的對焦模式或對焦點拍幾張相片.
10.若有AS的機種,以1/15以下的快門拍幾張相片,看AS的功能是否正常.
11.測光:拍幾張不同的測光方式,及明暗不同主題的照片.
12.使用內閃,拍攝幾張照片.
13.在相機上檢視相片,檢查播放功能.
14.將相片以電腦開啟,分別檢查圖片是否有CCD壞點,CCD入塵,CCD傾斜,對焦是否準確,測光是否準確,閃光燈出力是否正常,AS功能是否正常.
15.如果可以打開反光鏡,可以檢查一下CCD是否有異樣.
16.有帶閃光燈的話,可以測一下外閃是否正常的觸發,無線閃燈的功能是否正常.
17.如果有快門線的話,測一下是否正常.
18.測試其他功能......(可試相機的功能而決定要不要測,像是連拍功能,測試一下記憶卡寫入是否正常)

19.水貨是否可以買,請先上網看一下有用過的人的評價.
20.數位單眼相機要考慮日後的鏡頭搭配問題,一定要先做好功課,多看看使用者的心得再決定購買.
